Kinross banks on South American trio

Kinross has three gold operations in the United States and one in the north-east of Russia but over the next five years the company is set to take on an ever more Latin feel with three developments set to come on stream. "The centre of gravity will move further south as we build these three projects," chief executive Tye Burt told the Denver Gold Forum. The geographical distribution of group ounces illustrates Burt's point. Kinross' South American operations account for 79% of current reserves (45.6 moz in total) but this share increases to 88% of measured and indicated resources and 91% of inferred resources.
