Earlier this year we reported on Georgia Tech's innovative computer vision system for detecting product flaws in raw poultry. Using neural networks and colour image analysis software, the prototype system holds tremendous potential for on-line food quality evaluation. To further examine this potential, researchers in cooperation with the Tyson Foods, Inc. processing plant in Cumming, Ga., initiated the first on-line trials for the system.
