Washington, D.C.-based private investment firm The Carlyle Group announced September 10 that it agreed to acquire from Goldman Sachs Group the North American power-generation assets held by Cogentrix Energy LLC. Cogentrix has five coal and solar-power projects in California, Colorado, Florida and Virginia, as well as a development pipeline of gas and renewable-power projects.
