The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) announced June 11 that global investment in various types of “renewable” energy rose to US$257 billion in 2011, a new record. According to the UNEP, “solar attracted nearly twice as much investment as wind, driving the renewable-energy sector to yet another record-breaking year, albeit one beset with challenges for the industry.”
