Daimler Launching 'smart fortwo' EV Program in Amsterdam

Daimler announced April 11 that it will provide 300 "smart fortwo"electric vehicles (EVs) to the Amsterdam "car2go"car-sharing program by the end of 2011. The program in Amsterdam represents "one of the world's first large scale car-sharing fleets of pure electric vehicles,"according to Daimler. "The 'smart fortwo' electric drive has already been delivered to our customers in 18 markets worldwide,"said Dieter Zetsche, Daimler board chairman. "And car2go, our innovative mobility concept, has proven to be a success in Germany and in the U.S.,"he added.
