IEA: Global Oil Demand Inching Up; Gasoil/Diesel to Lead 2014 Growth

The latest International Energy Agency (IEA) monthly Oil Market Report (released July 11) finds that global oil demand in 2013 is likely to grow by 1.2 million barrels per day (b/d) to 92.0 million b/d – up from the IEA’s June 2013 forecast of 930,000-b/d growth in global oil demand this year. “Unseasonably cold weather in the OECD [Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development member nations] helped to raise the estimates for 2Q [secondquarter] 2013 and full-year 2013 by 645,000 b/d and 215,000 b/d, respectively,” according to the IEA.
