China-based electric-vehicle (EV) maker BYD announced May 16 that its “e6” vehicles will lead the launch of Hong Kong’s first EV taxis. “BYD closely collaborated with Sime Darby Motors Group, Hong Kong Taxi & Public Light Bus Association Ltd., Link Management Ltd., CLP Power Hong Kong Ltd. and the Hong Kong Electric Co. Ltd. to place into service the first batch of 45 BYD ‘e6’ taxis,” according to the company.
