Consumer Reports: U.S. Consumers Favor Tougher CAFE Standards

An overwhelming 93% of U.S. consumers polled by Con-sumer Reports say they favor tougher corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) standards for cars and trucks-including what's expected to be proposed by the President Barack Obama administration this month. According to the magazine, "nearly all respondents (93%) support increased fuel efficiency, while 77% agree that car manufacturers should produce more fuel-efficient vehicles and the government should increase standards and enforce them.
