U.S. President Barack Obama on January 26 announced that he supports federal tax subsidies for natural gas vehicles and natural gas-refueling station infrastructure. In a speech at a UPS trucking terminal in Las Vegas, Nev. – which has a federally subsidized compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station – Obama said that natural gas “could power our cars and our homes and our factories in a cleaner and cheaper way” than conventional oil-based fuels.
