SAIC Motor Corp. Ltd., one of China's biggest automakers, is prodding the government to support broader dieselization of the light-duty vehicle fleet. According to a March 17 report from Automotive News China, Chen Hong, president of SAIC, told the annual meeting of the National People's Congress that "the government should require each automaker to allot a fixed percentage of its vehicle production to diesels"because "reduce energy consumption by 30% and carbon emission by 25%.”
