Publication bias, effects on the assessment of rosiglitasone

Currently, treatment strategies in clinical pharmacology are almost exclusively based on evidence-based medicine, in particular on randomized placebo controlled double blind trials. An adequate meta-analysis including all available studies is considered the most conclusive proof of efficacy of a given treatment modality. In these systemic reviews, publication bias and related biases can result in misleading conclusions. The funnel-plot is frequently used to detect publication bias and related biases biases.
