Volvo on March 21 unveiled its “D13” liquefied natural gas (LNG) engine with diesel-fuel pilot injection for the North American heavy-duty truck market. “The Volvo D13-LNG compression-ignition engine utilizes LNG to deliver increased range and significant fuel efficiency improvements compared with other natural gaspowered offerings,” according to the company. “Customers will also be able to specify a Volvo ‘I-Shift’ automated-manual transmission.”
