GAIL Commissions Dabhol LNG Terminal

GAIL (India) Ltd. announced January 10 that it commissioned its 5 million-ton-per-annum (MMtpa) Dabhol LNG terminal in Ratnagari, Maharashtra, more than 200 miles south of Mumbai. The terminal will supply natural gas to India's southern and western states - including Goa, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu - via an 870-mile pipeline from Dabhol to Bangalore. That pipeline is expected to be commissioned by late January, according to the announcement. GAIL said it has taken a 25-year lease on the terminal and plans to increase its capacity to 7.5 MMtpa and then 10 MMtpa in a phased manner within the next two or three years.
