GE Wins Contract for Southern California Edison Load-Shifting Project

GE announced October 29 that it won a bid to provide a 500 kilowatt-hour battery-storage system for Southern California Edison’s load-shifting project at the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, Calif. The “Durathon” battery system and Princeton Power Systems (PPS) inverter control system “is engineered to shift 10% to 20% of the Science Center’s daily electrical load from peak hours to less expensive off-peak time periods,” according to GE. “The system also will provide backup power in the event of power outages.”
