Alter NRG, Coskata Tout Gasification-Based Waste-to-Ethanol Scheme

Calgary, Alberta-based Alter NRG and Illinois-based Cos-kata on October 13 announced what they described as the "successful" completion of a scheme involving waste gasifi-cation in a waste-to-ethanol research project at Alter NRG's Westinghouse Plasma demonstration center in Madison, Pa. Coskata commented that "the technology proven at the Pennsylvania facility will be used at our first commercial-scale facility in Alabama, of which Coskata was awarded a conditional commitment for a loan guarantee from the United States Department of Agriculture."
