European Parliament Panel OKs Carbon Tax Scheme on Fuels

The European Parliament (EP) Economic Affairs Committee on February 29 voted to approve European Union (EU) legislation requiring minimum energy-tax rates, with a view to introducing EU-level carbon taxation. The European Greens party hailed the move as a “clear political signal for closing some of the key loopholes in the current legislation, as well as for improving the proposals on carbon taxation.”
