India’s HPCL Plans US$6.7-Billion Refinery Complex in Rajasthan

State-owned fuel retailer/refiner Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (HPCL) plans to build an Rs 370-billion (US$6.7-billion) 9 million-tonne-per-year refinery and petrochemical complex in the town of Barmer, Rajasthan, India. According to a March 8 report from the Hindustan Times, the complex would use crude from Rajasthan and take about four years to complete. Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot executed a memorandum of understanding on March 7 with project developers, the report noted.
