摘要

The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) on August 5 unveiled a new report for air-pollution regulators on “best practices” for cutting heavy-duty diesel-vehicle emissions globally. Among the report recommendations: Cut sulfur levels in diesel fuels in order to enable advanced diesel emissions control technologies, including diesel particulate filters. According to the ICCT, “heavy-duty diesel vehicles [HDVs], while typically accounting for only a small percentage of a region’s vehicle fleet, emit a disproportionate share of total emissions of certain pollutants, especially particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOX). In addition, many [vehicles] have useful life spans of 20 years or longer.
