NYMEX WTI Plunges US$2.64/bbl; July WTI-Brent Spread Swells to $19.49

NYMEX light sweet crude for July delivery settled at US$99.29 per barrel (/bbl), down $2.64 on June 10, tracking a strong dollar and in response to reports that Saudi Arabia will offer Asian refiners more oil -with the ultimate goal of raising output to 10 million barrels per day next month. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for July declined 2.6%, as a sell-off in the stock market also pressured the energy complex. In addition, the market was driven by sentiment that OPEC's failure to raise export quotas during a June 8 meeting left the door open for individual producers to act unilaterally.
