Portuguese Prime Minister Becomes First Head of State to Drive EV

Portuguese electric mobility consortium MOBI.E. recently took delivery of nine, all-electric Nissan Leaf vehicles. A tenth set of keys was delivered to Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Socrates for his country's pioneering work in electric mobility. With that, Socrates became the first head of state "who will travel exclusively by an electric vehicle (EV) for official business around the capital city," according to a December 22 announcement from the prime minister's office.
