Altona Study Favors Combined CTLFT/ CTL-Methanol Plant

U.K.-based Altona Energy announced August 5 the results of an engineering study by Jacobs U.K. for a proposed scheme in South Australia that would combine coal-toliquids (CTL) Fischer-Tropsch (FT) fuels production plus CTL-methanol production at a single site. The “Arckaringa” site in South Australia “is a prime location for a CTL and power project, which remains the current focus of the ongoing CNOOC [China National Offshore Oil Corp.] joint-venture [JV]” with Altona, according to the company.
