摘要

A new tool for depth and mechanism estimation was developed and shown to provide fast and accurate estimates of depth and mechanism. This tool was used to develop 'ground-truth' estimates of depth and mechanism for a set of earthquakes in the Middle East and North Africa. Further, the potential of this technique for special event analysis and event screening was illustrated by comparing estimated depths and mechanisms of the May 11, 1998 India nuclear explosion and a November 8, 1991 earthquake that occurred in the same region.
