Optimized fixing technique for the integration of piezoceramic modules in die castings

A new technique for the integration of piezoceramic modules into die castings is presented. By using a wire cloth that surrounds the piezoceramic plate it is possible to fix the ceramic plate to the die to integrate it from all sides. After an appropriate pre-treatment the wire cloth only has a very moderate effect on the mechanical properties of the casting. Thus, this technique is able to replace the current state-of-the-art application of piezoceramic modules to metallic components by gluing.
