The small-scale dynamo process in a random mirror-symmetric field for large magnetic Reynolds numbers is studied. The method of continuous asymptotic construction for the magnetic field correlation function, for the maximal growth rate and for the corresponding scale of the growing mean magnetic field is presented. The critical Reynolds number estimate (Rm(cr) = 65), at which the dynamo is marginally stable, is obtained and tested numerically. A comparison of the analytical results with numerical simulations (Rm(cr) = 53) and with previous known asymptotics (Rm(cr) = 20) is carried out.
