Cumulative Effect in Laser-Induced Damage of Optical Glasses:A Review

摘要

The damage of glasses upon multiple exposure to "prethreshold"laser pulses results from the gradual modification of glass properties toward a decrease in the optical strength.Depending on the band gap and the radiation wavelength,the prevailing prethreshold process is either color center formation or the breaking of chemical bonds in the glass-formin gnetwork.In the latter case,the resistance of a material to laser irradiation is determine dto a large measure by the ocnnectivity and homogeneity of the metwork at the nanostructureal level.
