Fight the flop: Garden staking done right

From the front of the border to the very back, so many of the beautiful plants we love can reach amazing heights. Every year we fuss and fidget over how to keep our phlox from flopping and our lilies from leaning and usually, by the time you get to it, it's too late to make much of a difference. There are two secrets to keeping unruly plants in line in the garden. The first: Plan ahead. The second: Know your techniques. Once you're armed with the proper plan of attack you can easily mount an offenseagainst weak stems, top heavy flowers, rambunctious pets, wind... any of the assailants that wreak havoc on the garden.
