Pharmacognostic studies on seed of Cullen corylifolium (L.) Medik.

Cullen corylifolium (L.) Medik. is a herbaceous weed belonging to the family Fabaceae. The seeds are used in treatment of leucoderma, ulcers, scabies and leprosy. Present paper includes anatomical, powder microscopic and organoleptic characters of the seed. In T.S., seed consists of exotesta and testa. Exotesta is made of outer tanniniferous zone, middle aerenchymatous zone and inner zone. Testa is made up of 1 -layered malphigian palisade tissue followed by a layer of hour glass cells. The inner epidermis is 1-layered. The cotyledonary tissue is extensive and contents densely filled with oil glands and starch garins.
