摘要

Contact induced flaws encountered in glassprocessing or during its subsequent uses are the main source ofstrength degradation and damage. These 'natural' flaws evolve asmicrocracks under the influence of external loading by stressconcentrations or residual stresses caused by inelasticdeformation at localised contacts. Size, density and orientationdistribution of these microcracks are dependent on chance.Where their density is high as in impact erosion (sand blasting)microcrack interaction becomes preponderant. In this work westudied the effect of interaction between two crack systemsartificially induced by Vickers indentation. We were interestedin the influence of the loading magnitude and distanceseparating two similar indentations in a particular configuration.
