Steel Shevis

Stell has been painting since she was ten. On her birthday, this July 1st, she turned 101 years old. A Maine resident since 1945, her work is inspired by colors and patterns of the seasons, by her garden, her family and friends. Her enamel art has been exhibited in nine international enamel shows, around the world and at the Figureworks Gallery in Brooldyn, NY. She has taught workshops at Haystack in Stonington, ME, at CMCA in Rockport, ME, Round Top, Damariscotta, in Caracas, Venezuela, as well as in her own studio. She has written many articles for Glass on Metal magazine and had her work published in Contemporary Enameling by Lilyan Bachrach. She has produced two delightful, instructional DVDs, one entitled 'Painting With Oxides' and the other 'Wet Inlay'.
