Structure of Selenium Clusters in the Crystal Lattice of Chabazite

Single crystals of natural chabazite zeolite[R3m,a=9.376(3)A,alpha=93.56(5)deg,182 F(hkl),R=0.075]with embedded selenium atoms are studied using X-ray diffraction.It is found that a cluster consisting of 12 selenium atoms is formed in some cavities of the chabazite structure.The cluster represents a six-membered puckered ring with six teminal atoms.A number of selenium atoms in the structure are located along the threefold axis and do not incoporate into this cluster.Interaction between Se_12 clusters is unlikely.
