Glass as a medium gives me a conduit for capturing brief moments of light and color. I'm enchanted by the magic of the flame, and I like the immediacy of the work. Flowers are a metaphor for the cycle of life. I create my beads to reflect, and perhaps retain, a bit of the fragile beauty of impermanence.Technical considerations and challenges include layering and mixing colors and creating textures and patterns that suggest growing plant life. Soda lime glass provides a wide color pal-ette I further expand by layering transparent colors over opaques and placing them next to one another in striped stringers. I employ chemical etching on selected areas to enhance contrast.
