Merit Abrasives acquisition

Saint-Gobain Abrasives, Inc., the abrasives division of Saint-Gobain, announced in August that it had acquired Merit Abrasives, a Compton, California, US-based manufacturer of specialty abrasive products, such as quick-change discs, flap discs, flap wheels and contour sanding heads. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.Merit abrasives employs approximately 180 people worldwide and also has plants in Brookville, Ohio, US, in Glasgow Scotland, and in Tijuana, Mexico. The Compton operation is in the process of being transferred to Ohio and Mexico.
