Behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) are difficult to care for. Sometimes severe BPSD can be managed using antipsychotics and/or restriction. BPSD often originates from misunderstanding memories of people, time, situation and so on, which might be confusing in the social lives of patients with dementia. Unsuitable care for patients might further degrade BPSD. For child care, it has experimentally been recommended that mothers tightly hold their children to set their children at ease. Caregivers often hold patients with dementia for relief of anxiety, fear or even anger.
