PROFESSOR FRASER TAYLOR ELECTED FELLOW OF THE ROYAL SOCIETY OF CANADA

Professor Fraser Taylor has beenelected a Fellow of the Royal Societyof Canada. He is the first cartographerto achieve this honour. Prof. Taylor was elected Presidentof the International CartographicAssociation in 1987, having servedthree years as Vice President since1984. He was again elected Presidentfor a further 4-year term of office in1991. In 1999, to recognise his out-standing contributions to theAssociation, Prof. Taylor was electedan Honorary Fellow of the ICA. Aswell, Prof. Taylor has represented theICA on Joint Boards. In 1989 he waselected President of the InternationalUnion for Surveys and Mapping and in2004 he was appointed a member ofthe Joint Board of the GeospatialInformation Societies.
