The IPY GeoNoith 2007, the first conference on Geospatial Sciences and Applications for the North, was held in the framework of the International Polar Year (IPY) 2007-2008 initiative. It took place in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, from August 20 to 24, 2007, and provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge and to learn from past and current experiences on the generation, management and use of geospatial information in northern environments, It was also an occasion for capacity-building and exchange of best practices through several workshops.
