There have been extensive studies in controlled polymerization of organic monomers on porous or nonporous inorganic surface by making use of a surface attached initiator. The resultant organic-inorganic combined polymer can be used as stationary phases in chromatography." Various silica materials including porous silica particles,silica beads,silica monolith, and silica capillary have been used for such purposes.
