Region-specific Gene Expression in Adult Mouse CNS Tissues: Specification of the Microdissection Procedure

Different areas of the Central Nervous System (CNS) display a specific and selective gene expression profile. Here, we used a laser microdissection system to study region-specific mRNA expression in the adult mouse retina and hippocampus. Quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) and microarray analyses were performed to verify the specificity of the microdissection procedure and the purity of the extracted RNAs.
