Major increases in liquid-fueled propulsion performance have occurred in the past 100 years since the Wright brothers first flew in 1903.The fuel parameters most relevant to gas turbine engines and vehicle performances are the heat of combustion on a mass basis in air and the density.The liquid propellant rockets,the key propellant-related parameters are specific impulse I_(sp) (thrust divided by propellant mass flow rate) and propellant density.
