Provident Completes Strategic Review; Maintains Current Structure

Provident Energy Trust has completed a strategic review, which was initiated in response to the Canadian government's Oct. 31, 2006 decision to begin taxing income trusts in 2011 (for more detail, see GPR 3/17/08). Based on the results of this review, the company decided that in the current macroeconomic environment, with low commodity prices and volatile debt and equity markets, its unitholders benefit from its current structure as a cash-distributing, diversified energy enterprise with upstream and midstream business units.
