Ethane Consumption May be Higher than Thought

Petral Worldwide Offers Its Numbers on Recent Runs.The table below shows the results of the proprietary survey of Dan Lippe,Petral Worldwide,for October 2005-January 2006.This shows the extent of ethane runs at various types of Gulf Coast ethylene crackers.These numbers are significantly higher than those in the bar chart on page 6 of our March 6 issue from EnVantage's research,for each of the months from October to January.Lippe shows total ethane consumption at 760,000 b/d as of January,the culmination of steadily increasing runs since October.The January number is a normal to high figure for demand.
