EIA: Major Energy Companies Had Combined Net Loss in Q1

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) released a report that looked at the first quarter results for 19 major energy companies and found these companies had a 126% decrease in net income as a whole. The report also noted that this $7 billion net loss marked a 131% decrease compared to the first quarter average from 2004 to 2008. It was also the first loss recorded by the majors since at least Q4 1999, which is the earliest period that EIA recorded such data.
