Despite a rejection last week by the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission to reinstate its natural gas leases at Point Thomson, ExxonMobil announced it would continue with its plan to complete two wells in the field. The company, which had the leases revoked by the state because of inactivity, is in the process of moving equipment from its Nabors 27E drilling rig to a staging area close to Point Thomson in order to begin development work. Gov. Sarah Palin spoke positively of the company's efforts to bring the field into production.
