Sinopec and Henan awarded China's first shale plays

Chinese petroleum giant China Petroleum & Chemical Corp (Sinopec) and Henan Provincial Coal Gas Development and Utilisation Co, a local company dealing in unconventional gas, have been awarded China's first shale gas blocks, according to reports on Wednesday. The two companies were awarded blocks covering 2,000 square km near the south western city of Chongqing.
