Statoil awards pre-FEED contract for Snohvit LNG expansion

Statoil has awarded a contract to Foster Wheeler to carry out pre-FEED (front-end engineering) studies for a possible expansion of the Snohvit LNG export project in northern Norway. Foster Wheeler said its work will include concept design activities to support finalisation of the development concept and plant capacity for the expansion of LNG production at the liquefaction plant on Melkoya Island, as well as energy optimisation investigations. Its involvement in the contract will continue through 2011 and could include further releases of work.
