Pertamina aims to snap up majority stake in Medco

Indonesia's state oil and gas company Pertamina is aiming to buy a majority stake in, or possibly merge with, the Indonesian utility Medco Energi International in an effort to boost its core energy business. Frederick Siahaan, Pertamina's director of business and risk management, confirmed that the company was in talks with Medco and said that Pertamina was considering buying a stake in Encore Energy, Medco's parent company.
