ITOCHU stake in KKR-led Samson purchase sees trader securing LNG export potential

A group of investors led by private equity company Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR), and including Japan’s ITOCHU Corporation, will buy US exploration and production company Samson Investment Company for $7.2 billion, the group announced on Thursday. Under the terms of the agreement, the investor group – which also includes Natural Gas Partners (NGP) and Crestview Partners – will acquire all of Samson's assets with the exception of its onshore Gulf Coast and offshore deep water Gulf of Mexico assets.
