One would hope that the new gas gathering line regulations might be easy to understand and easy to follow, but this isn’t meant to be. Defining the terms and even determining what exactly a gathering line is has proven to be a challenge. To help the industry comply with the new gas gathering regulations, the Gas Processors Association (GPA) and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) sponsored seminars in Houston and Denver. The Houston seminar was held Oct. 5 and attracted more than 100 participants; the Denver seminar was held Nov. 16 and drew a similar crowd.
