Daewoo signs LNG FPSO agreement for Israel’s Tamar field

South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has signed a preliminary agreement with the consortium developing Israel’s offshore Tamar gas field to conduct a floating LNG feasibility study. Noble Energy, Delek Group and Isramco are developing Tamar – the largest deepwater natural gas discovery made globally in 2009. Daewoo said in a statement that it “hopes to win multiple orders for LNG floating production and storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels", with the consortium opting for floating LNG rather than onshore plants “for geopolitical reasons”.
