The general manager of Japan's Inpex has said that the company wishes to build a 5 mtpa floating liquefaction plant to export gas from the Masela gas block in the Timor Sea. Hirohisa Ota said on Wednesday that Inpex had submitted a development plan to the Indonesian authorities "two days ago". Ota estimated that the project's total costs might reach $5 billion, up from an earlier estimate of $4.3 billion, and that production could begin in 2016.
