South America - Supply Argentina halts gas supply to Chile for 'several days'

Argentina suspended gas supply to Chile on Wednesday. Around 80% of Chile's gas imports comes from Argentina. Chile's energy minister Marcelo Tokman said that he expected the cut to last for "several days". Tokman added that Argentina is forecasting very cold temperatures and is facing labour conflicts in the fuel industry. The problem is exacerbated by Bolivia currently supplying Argentina with less than the contractually agreed amount of gas. Chilean gas suppliers said that they intend to substitute locally produced propane for the gas to meet the shortfall.
